P: The following brief outline details the common sense approach to managing your PowerForce environment. Remember PowerForce is the combination of an NT service, and the client side software, so there's not a lot that can go wrong. A: 1. When a user has an error such as a system "hanging", we reccommed that your IT personnel investigate, and as a minimum keep note of the module and / or screen that the user was in.
2. If you need to restart the server (the application server).
3. Once the system reboots, immediately check the Event Logs. The PowerForce Database manager exists as the "Linear Hash Service" in the system services. Any errors from the Linear Hash service must be investigated, as they are the first notice that something is wrong with the Database. 4. Your virus protect software must NOT scan files ending in ".LK" or ".OV" - these are simply data tables. 5. Backup logs need to be monitored, and all incomplete backups must be re-run promptly to ensure valid and concurrent backups.
