This article gives a quick shortcut on how to you turn off DEP (Data Execution Prevention) on an XP system?

 

Have you tried turning DEP off via a switch in the Windows Boot.INI file? Setting noexecute=AlwaysOff as shown below should work.

\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=AlwaysOff
